Submissions
Submission GuidelinesThe New England Psalter publishes poetry and prose that takes the life of faith seriously; its consolations and its difficulties both.
Poetry — Send up to five poems in a single document, ten pages maximum.
Prose — Fiction and creative nonfiction between 1,000 and 5,000 words. Flash under 1,000 words may be submitted up to three pieces at a time in a single document.
Simultaneous submissions are welcome. Please withdraw the piece through Submittable immediately if it's accepted elsewhere; for multi-poem submissions, note in the withdrawal message which poems remain available. Please wait for a response before submitting again, with the exception of one submission per genre at a time.
Poetry, Prose, and ArtPoetry, short fiction, flash fiction, and creative nonfiction. We welcome work from writers of any tradition or none, provided the writing engages honestly with Christian faith. We are not a devotional magazine. Work that resolves too cleanly, explains its own moral, or reads as sermon-with-line-breaks is not a fit here, however sincere.
Response TimeWe aim to respond within twelve weeks. If you haven't heard from us after fourteen, please query through Submittable rather than email.
Reading periodsWe read in all seasons. We aim to publish two issues per year (Spring and Fall).
